Michaels backs out of W.Va. State Fair appearance

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Poison front man and occasional reality TV star Bret Michaels has canceled his performance Aug. 14 at the West Virginia State Fair.

State Fair CEO Marlene Joliffe said in a release posted on the State Fair's website, "Scheduling issues arose after our date was confirmed and simply could not be resolved."

According to Michaels' website, on Aug. 14, the 49-year-old singer will perform with Poison on the "Rock of Ages" tour in Burgettstown, Pa. The concert tour will also feature 1980s rockers Def Leppard and Lita Ford.

The West Virginia State Fair announced Michaels as part of this year's entertainment April 12. Presales for the "Rock of Ages" show in Burgettstown began on April 26.

According to the WV State Fair, ETIX will contact ticket holders about refunds. No replacement for the August 14 date has been announced. An announcement will be made once plans had been finalized, fair officials said.
