CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia will celebrate its heritage during the 2012 Vandalia Gathering at the state Capitol Complex.
This year's three-day festival will be held May 25-27. It features traditional music, dance, food and crafts.
Music contests include old-time fiddle, bluegrass banjo and mandolin on May 26, and old-time banjo, lap dulcimer and flat-pick guitar on May 27.
Bakers will compete for the best pound cake and best cupcake awards on May 26.
The Liars Contest will be held at the Culture Center on May 27.
The contests are only open to West Virginia residents.
