gazzopolis: RFC meets 'Legally Blonde'

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The 164th episode of "Radio Free Charleston" is online now at The PopCult blog at thegazz.com. It features music from the Light Opera Guild production of "Legally Blonde" and a song from Mother Nang, along with a brief bit of strange, uncredited animation.

RFC cameras were allowed in for the first dress rehearsal of "Legally Blonde" and documented a show that looked like a lot of fun. See and hear two numbers, "Serious" and "What You Want."

This episode also features a song by Mother Nang, recorded last summer at Haddad Riverfront Park. Mother Nang will have a CD-release show Friday at The Empty Glass, starting at 10 p.m., with InFormation, Karen Allen and Andy Park in support.

For the host segments, Rudy Panucci "borrowed" the podium for The Optimists Club, which he noticed was set up in the lobby of the Civic Center Little Theater after filming for "Legally Blonde." Even though he didn't ask permission, Panucci said, "I'm sure that, if they put their minds to it, the club could come up with all kinds of reasons why this is a good thing for our future."
