FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- Field trips, live music, guided mountain bike trips, stand-up paddle-boarding and ranger-guided hikes are all part of the New River Festival, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday in the Fayetteville area.

The former Rivers campground, which now serves as the ACE Gear Shop on Fayette Station Road, off U.S. 19 near Fayetteville, is the main location for the festival -- the main fundraising event for the New River Clean Water Alliance.

Activities begin Friday night with a Wild and Scenic Film Festival and social hour at Bridge Brew Works.

On Saturday, a Kids Play Zone will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. at the former Rivers campground, followed by a puppet parade. Exhibitors, food vendors and artists will be on site from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by musical performances by Fire Creek, Cello Fury, the Keg Dwellers, Andrew Adkins, Ken Kruger and Jen Miller. A liars contest will begin at 7 p.m. in the Eddy Out Eatery.

At the campground, participants can sign up for field trips, including a ranger-guided tour of Nuttalburg, mountain bike trail rides with guides from New River Bicycle Union, and paddle-boarding on the pool near the Fayette Station take-out area on the New River.

Festival admission is $10 for individuals and $15 for families. There may be additional costs for some field trip activities.
