Young blues band plays Power Park Thursday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Homemade Jamz Blues Band, dubbed "the youngest blues band in America," performs at "Redefining Cool!" a free event starting at 5 p.m. Thursday at Appalachian Power Park. The band of teenage siblings tours internationally, including a London performance for U.S. Olympic team on July 28.

W.Va's Finest talent competition winner Toi Keira and J Goddess also performs, and the event serves as a forum for young people to talk about, ask questions and receive information on where to go for help on issues such as bullying, dating violence and peer pressure.

Ages 10 to 18 are encouraged to attend, but the evening is open to all. The event is sponsored by the Charleston Blues Society, Simply Jazz and Blues Radio Show, Joe Holland, Step-by-Step, Gino's Pizza and Tudor's Biscuit World.
