Bluegrass artist to hold CD release party

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Bluegrass musician Luke Shamblin, who grew up just outside Charleston, will hold a CD release party for his second album, "Higher Ground," at Herbert  Hoover High School beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.

Shamblin, who says his musical journey began when he inherited his grandfather's fiddle, was the 2010 Vandalia Gathering mandolin champion. He has toured widely across the East and Midwest, sharing stages with bluegrass stars like Jesse McReynolds, Everett Lilly and Ronnie Reno. He currently performs with Melvin Goins and Windy Mountain, in addition to with his own band.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children age 5 and older and free to those under 5.
