W.Va. Symphony fall tour

The West Virginia Symphony will perform several concerts on the road this weekend with soloist Michael Ludwig, concertmaster for the Buffalo (N.Y.) Philharmonic. The program features Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B Flat Major (Op. 60) and Violin Concerto in D Major (Op. 61).

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday at West Virginia State University (free limited tickets on a first come, first serve basis. Historic Fayette Theater

The Historic Fayette Theater will stage "The Red Velvet Cake War" at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Oct. 5, 6, 12 and 13 and 2 p.m. Oct. 14. The wacky comedy centers on three Southern sisters who challenge their uppity aunt to a bake-off. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and children under 12.

It will hold auditions for "Tiny Tim: A Christmas Carol Revisited" from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Roles are available for eight or nine men, eight women and two children as well as several non-speaking child roles. Production dates are Nov. 23-25 and Nov. 30-Dec.2.

GlowFest

The traveling electronica music festival GlowFest comes to Mylan Park in Morgantown Friday as part of WVU homecoming week. Beginning at 8 p.m., it features 15 performers on two stages, including local acts. Headliners are Porter Robinson & Zedd, Bingo Players, Krewella and Paper Diamond.

'Animal Farm' discussions

"This is Spinal Tap" is the Flashback Film Series selection at Park Place Stadium Cinemas, 600 Washington St. E., this weekend.
