CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- What do you get when you put eight young award-winning Celtic female artists in one room? Find out when Girsa (Gaelic for "young girls") opens the 20012-13 season of FOOTMAD in a show starting at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Culture Center Theater.
It's sure to be a rollicking good time when the band hits the stage, armed with fiddles, mandolins, the Irish bodhran hand drum, whistles and other instruments. Expect traditional Irish ballads and dancing-feet jigs to contemporary ballads by the likes of Steve Earle and Guy Clark from this group hailing from the Irish-American community of Pearl River, N.Y.
