The weekend is full of holiday concerts

The ACC Canticle Choir performs another holiday concert at 4 p.m. Dec. 16. at St. Andrew United Methodist, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans. It is free.

Charleston Civic Chorus: The chorus' free winter concert begins at 3 p.m. at the Charleston Baptist Temple, 209 Morris St. Directed by J. Truman Dalton and accompanied by Randall Peters, the group will sing Stephen Paulus' "Canticum Novum" (with added harp, flute, oboe and percussion accompaniment), as well as multiple selections from John Rutter's "Chrismas Motets" and The King's Singers Choral Library's Christmas Collection.

Clendenin Community Chorus:The 74th annual performance by the chorus of Handel's "Messiah" is at 3 p.m. at Clendenin United Methodist Church, 121 Koontz Ave. Admission is free. Call 304-548-5362 or email HG.Yo...@mail.wvu.edu.

PipeSounds:"A Christmas Spectacular" features Huntington native Rodney L. Barbour on the Harrah Symphonic Organ. Barbour has performed with the Holiday on Ice Orchestra and Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He also was the official organist of the Cincinnati Reds for 11 years.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. at the Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave., Hurricane. A reception follows. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children under age 5. Visit www.pipesounds.org.

University of Charleston Holiday Gala Concert: The UC Concert Choir, University Singers and Charleston Brass Quintet perform "Music: A Gift to Change the World," a free concert of secular and sacred seasonal music at 3 p.m. in the school's Riggleman Hall.
