CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "Radio Free Charleston" marks its 175th episode milestone with a 2012 sampler of what show producer Rudy Panucci calls "four remarkable performances that the local music and art video show brought you in 2012." The episode is now online at the PopCult blog at thegazz.com.

The episode revisits songs from Red Audio, In The Company of Wolves, Godmode Broadway and a Charleston Light Opera Guild production of "The Color Purple."

Red Audio, from Summersville, was recorded during FestivALL at the Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off at Haddad Riverfront Park. For this video, live footage of the band was combined with a studio recording of its song, "Girl From Outer Space."

Hurricane's In The Company of Wolves is seen performing "Holding on to You" from Tribute To The Troops II in August. Godmode Broadway pops up in a futuristic surveillance-style music video, which was crafted by Panucci in the band's rehearsal space, for its "Surfboards and Broadswords."

The show wraps up with a number from the Light Opera Guild's "The Color Purple." "Push Da Button" is a showstopper featuring Nakeila Killing as Shug Avery, the juke-joint singer who steals the heart of Celie.

Also on the blog, Panucci has kicked off his eighth annual "PopCult Gift Guide," which will run every weekday for the next few weeks.
