An evening with Dreama Denver

Beckley's 110 Marshall will host a free book signing and discussion with Dreama Denver beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Denver, Bob's wife, wrote the book "Gilligan's Dreams." The night also includes tropical drinks and food.

Free film

At 7:30 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. W., will screen "When Did You Last See Your Father?" as part of its free Third Friday Film Series. The film stars Colin Firth as an award-winning author who cares for his dying father (Jim Broadbent) and begins to see him as a complete person.

The PG-13 rated film will be shown with captions for the hearing impaired. Call 304-345-5042.

Opera at the movies

The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Gaetano Donizetti's "Maria Suarda" will screen live at 12:55 p.m. Saturday at Regal Nitro and Cinemark Huntington Mall. The production lasts roughly four hours. It is based on the lives of Mary, Queen of Scots, and her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.
