Chemical Valley exhibit
"The Chemical Valley: West Virginia's Gift to the World" opens with a 2 p.m. reception Sunday at the Culture Center. On display through May 6, it highlights the contributions and developments made by the manufacturing and chemical industries of West Virginia, particularly companies located in the Kanawha Valley.
The reception will feature guest speakers and will provide opportunities for former and current workers to videotape their reflections on what it is like to work in the chemical industry. Recording sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from noon to 5 p.m.

At 12:15 p.m. Jan. 26, the Clay Center's free Lunchtime Lecture will feature West Virginia Symphony conductor Grant Cooper, as well as composer Joseph Schwantner and percussionist Lisa Pegher. That weekend, the symphony will perform a work by Schwantner, with Pegher as the featured soloist. Call 304-561-3570.
On Jan. 28, Hawks Nest Lodge in Ansted will present a dinner theater featuring a one-hour concert by folk musician Ron Perrone and a full-course meal. Tickets are $54.25 each or $200 for a table of four. Call 304-658-5212.
Greenbrier County casting call
An adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel "Child of God" will film in Greenbrier County in February. The production is seeking background actors, extras and a few speaking roles, most of which will require only a one-day commitment. SAG affiliation is not required. All extras will receive lunch and credit.

Wheeling casting call
The creative teams behind the movie "Doughboy" will shoot the Christmas-themed independent feature "Random Acts" in Wheeling in March. They are seeking 12 actors and 10 actresses, ranging in age from 16 to 80, for lead and supporting roles.
