CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Samuel Beckett's absurdist masterpiece "Waiting for Godot" is as confounding as it is entertaining. Two men, Vladimir and Estragon, wait for someone named Godot, who may or may not be coming. The play was once voted "the most significant English language play of the 20th century." As its characters bicker, banter, sing, swap hats and contemplate suicide -- anything "to hold the terrible silence at bay" -- their world begins to profoundly reflect the predicaments and stress of the human condition.
