ART
Teen art show: 5 p.m. Thursday through noon Monday. Works by Kanawha County middle and high school artists are on display and for sale in Macy's Court at the Charleston Town Center mall.
Musical easels: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Local artists draw or paint scenery at the Lee Street Triangle, accompanied by local street musicians. Whenever the music stops, they switch easels.
Public Paint-by-Numbers: Saturday through June 24. Local artists will be at various FestivALL locations with large-scale paintings of nearby scenes. Stop by and paint on one for 5 minutes.
Art parade: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Visual artists, performers, musicians, bicyclists, roller skaters and local organizations take a route that runs on Capitol Street from Kanawha Boulevard to Capitol Market.
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School: Noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Draw live models at the Lee Street Triangle. Art supplies are provided or bring your own.
RJ Haddy workshop: 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. "Face Off" finalist RJ Haddy will demonstrate special effects and makeup artistry in Macy's Court at the Charleston Town Center mall.
Art/architecture walking tour: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Guides explain the history behind landmarks and public art in downtown Charleston. The tour starts at the Lee Street Triangle. For more on the event, see the June 15 Charleston Gazette.
Art auction: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Original works will be auctioned at this East End Main Street StreetWorks benefit at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 301 Piedmont Road. Ted Brightwell is the auctioneer, and local musicians will perform. Tickets are $25 and include beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres.
MUSIC
MusicWorks: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Performers celebrate "the music of work and the work of music" at Capitol Roasters, 160 Summers St. Sets are 30 minutes. Acts are (in order of appearance) Mark and Micah Atkinson, Raj Pongsugree with Rick Perdue, Paul Callicoat with Jay Oakes, Emily Burdette, Andy Park with Jamie Adkins, Julie Adams with Steve Hill, John Lilly (who also emcees), Tracy Miller, T. FOOTMAD contra dance: 8 to 11 p.m. Friday. (Beginner lessons at 7:30 p.m.) Phoebe Williams will call to the music of the Coffee Zombies at the Columbia Gas Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for students, $15 for families and free for children 12 and under.

FestivALL dance gala: 7:30 p.m. June 21. West Side Wiener Dog Races: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Dachshunds in four divisions (plus a mixed-breed division) compete in races on the Stonewall Jackson Middle School lawn, 700 Washington St. W. There also are fetch and costume contests, as well as a doggie obstacle course, pet fortune teller, caricature artist, vendors and music by the Ritch Collins Three-O.

Horse-drawn carriage rides: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Capitol Market and June 23 on the corner of Capitol and Quarrier streets. Tickets are $5.
Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-Off: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The annual chili cook-off on Kanawha Boulevard around Haddad Riverfront Park also features chili-eating and frozen T-shirt contests, an attempt to break the fire-eating record for highest flame blown and music by Red Audio, Blue Million and 600LBS of Sin. W.Va. Filmmakers Guild Open Projector Night: 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Filmmakers are invited to screen and discuss works at the WVSU Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. They can be shorts or excerpts of longer works.
Spirit of West Virginia cruises: 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday; 1, 2:30, 4 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Take an hour-long scenic sternwheeler trip on the Kanawha River from Haddad Riverfront Park to the 35th Street Bridge and back. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors and veterans and $7.50 for children 10 and under.
River Queen cruises: 12, 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Wednesday and June 21; noon and 2 p.m. June 22 and 23. The Cincinnati sternwheeler offers 90-minute trips along the Kanawha River on a climate-controlled boat. Cruises depart at Haddad Riverfront Park. Tickets, not including tax, are $17 for adults, $16 for seniors, $10 for ages 4-12 and free for ages 3 and under.
Spring Hill Cemetery Tour: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. This walking tour features Charleston Founding Fathers re-enactors and a guided tree tour. A trolley runs continuously from 12:45 to 4:15 p.m., departing in front of Tidewater at Charleston Town Center.
Sunrise Carriage Trail Fight for Air walk: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Musicians and actors will perform at stops along the .65-mile trail. They include "A Midsummer Nature Walk" (featuring Puck from William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"), Gary Brown as Gov. MacCorkle and brass, string and fiddle music. Staged at 20 after and 10 'til each hour is the eight-minute "Hanging Around, A Tale of Two Women," about the alleged female Civil War spies buried near the trail.
The event is free, but also a benefit for the American Lung Association. Register for $25 and get an artisan-designed T-shirt.

Taste-of-ALL Charleston: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Sample food from 25 local vendors in the Civic Center's Grand Hall. (Tasting tickets are 50 cents.) West Side Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social: Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Besides free ice cream, there are food and sport competitions, clowns, face painting, crafts, stilt walkers, a magician and more to be found on the Stonewall Jackson Middle School lawn. Ritch Collins Three-O, Coal Train and Dugan Carter & Full Flavor provide music.
Meet the Wiggles: 11 a.m. to noon Monday. Meet "The Wiggles" characters Dorothy, Wags and Henry in the Charleston Town Center's Picnic Place.
Dizzy Doc's balloon sculpture: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through June 24. This year, the popular balloon artist will be crafting his giant sculpture in the Charleston Town Center's Macy's Court.
