APPALACHIAN CHILDREN'S CHORUS AUDITIONS: 3 p.m., the University of Charleston's Keenan Hall. Girls and boys (with unchanged voices) are encouraged to audition. Participants are not required to have a prepared song selection, although they may do so if they wish. No previous singing experience is necessary. There is a significant annual fee for participation. Partial financial aid is offered for qualifying students, with applications for that due by Aug. 31. KANAWHA TRAIL CLUB HIKE: Lincoln County farm. Carpool at 12:30 p.m. from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at McDonald's at the Hurricane Interstate 64 exit. The hike is 3 to 4 miles on rolling hills and will be led by the farm's owner.
