CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- East meets West acrobatically, musically and linguistically as the Cirque du Soleil show "Dralion" (pronounced 'Drah-lee-on') settles into the Charleston Civic Center Wednesday through Sept. 16.

With a name that fuses the word dragon, representing the East, and lion, representing the West, the show melds ancient Chinese acrobatic traditions and the avant-garde, high-flying Cirque style. The international cast showcases the world-class work of more than 50 gymnasts, acrobats, musicians and singers against a 60-feet tall backdrop that looks like a cross between a Chinese temple and medieval armor work, topped with six giant claws that enable performers to climb or suspend themselves in air.

Shows are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sept. 14, 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and 1 and 5 p.m. Sept. 16. Tickets are $30, $50, $90 and $140 plus service charges, available at the Civic Center box office, ticketmaster.com and 800-745-3000 and select Walmart locations.
