Music for Media workshop
This weekend, Chuck Biel hosts a workshop on how to make music and sound for film, TV, websites and video games. It runs 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Digiso, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. Cost is $40. Register at www.artskv.org/creatorsprogram.
Dunbar Fall Festival
The Dunbar Fall Festival runs Friday through Sunday at the 12th Street Pedestrian Plaza. There's live music Friday and Saturday, and a parade (11 a.m.), Girl Scout fashion show (2:30 p.m.) and Center Stage game show (3:30 p.m.) Saturday.
Spirit of West Virginia river tours run at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for non-Dunbar residents, $10 for Dunbar residents, seniors and veterans and $7.50 for children. Call 304-766-0220.
Clay Center activities
On Saturday, the Clay Center will open "Roll Drop Bounce," exploring kinetic and potential energy and Newton's Laws of Motion, in it's Mylan Exlpore-atory. On display through Dec. 30, the exhibit lets visitors build a mini-car, race balls down a ramp, launch a catapult and more.
Also, Wednesday through Sept. 30, the Clay Center will offer free admission to its Harvest Skies planetarium show with the purchase of gallery admission (adults $7.50, children $6). The show features constellations in the fall skies and the astronomical origins of Halloween.

Squire Parsons concert

Martin Staunton benefit
A benefit for Martin Staunton will be held at 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at The Empty Glass, 410 Elizabeth St. Staunton was a longtime anchor/reporter with WCHS, WOWK and, most recently, Beckley's WVNS. His wife, Teresa, died of a stroke Sept. 7.
Performing will be the Steve Himes Trio, the Spurgie Hankins Band and headliners The Bob Thompson Trio. Other acts may be added.

'Hello, Dolly!' cast announced
The Charleston Light Opera Guild has announced the cast list for its fall production of "Hello, Dolly!" Debbi Spradling will star as Dolly Levi, with Tim Harper as Horace Vandergelder, Rachel Cox as Irene Malloy, Lindsey Duvall as Minnie Fay, Cameron Vance as Cornelius Hackl and Cameron Burford as Barnaby Tucker, Carly Thaw as Ermengard, Austin Thomas as Ambrose Kemper, Susan McKay as Ernestina Money and Rick Fleenor as Rudolf.
Ensemble cast members are Mark Felton, Becky and David Bailey, Jane Auge, Steve Brannon, Ted Brightwell, Stevie Brigode, Haley & Reba Burgess, Debbie Cannada, Bryan Chin, Rachel Coffman, Caleb Cosby, Debbie Holstein, Shelia Jarrett, Pam Kessler, Rudie Raynes-Kidder, Kaitlin Kouns, Ethan Lyvers, Bob McCarty, Kiara Moore, Erin Murphy, Barbara O'Hara, Renata Padon, Denny Pauley, Mariah Plante, Toni Pilato, Caroline Chamness Rainey, Max Ross, Ashley Showen and Nick Staples.
