Manna Meal fundraiser
Bid on original art by West Virginia artists from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the grand lobby of the Clay Center.
Manna Meal's "Art in the Garden" auction will feature works that have a garden theme. The free event is a fundraiser for Manna Meal, Charleston's oldest soup kitchen.
Music from the 1920s through 2012 will be performed by the Charleston Gay Men's Chorale at free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bream Memorial Church, 317 Washington St.W. Donations are appreciated for the purpose of purchasing sheet music and other necessities.
Jewish Film Festival
The fall Jewish Film Festival has a baseball theme in the two movies to be shown at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Culture Center, state Capitol complex. Both are free.
The 2009 film "Holy Land Hardball" (80 minutes) will be shown at 4 p.m. The story is about a Boston bagel maker's dream to combine his love of baseball and Israel and create an Israeli baseball league. His idea was met with incredulity and even hostility. However, he did it anyway.
The 2010 documentary "Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story" (90 minutes) portrays the contributions of Jewish major leaguers and the special meaning that baseball has had in the lives of American Jews. More than a film about sports, this is a story of immigration, assimilation, bigotry, heroism, the passing on of traditions, and the shattering of stereotypes. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman

The 25th annual Buffalo Octoberfest will feature gospel, bluegrass and country music plus arts and crafts, living history enactors, petting zoos, clowns, games, face painting and more.
Activities begins at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Shopping Center in Putnam County. Most events are free.
