Elk Theatre benefits

Some time in 2013, 35mm film prints will be discontinued and theaters will receive films only in digital format. For Sutton's Elk Theatre to remain open when that happens, it needs to raise a minimum of $25,000 for a digital projector.

To help in the fundraising effort, the Town Square Café & Restaurant, 400 Fourth St., is holding pancake breakfasts from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday and Dec. 15. Three pancakes, sausage links and hot chocolate will sell for $5.99 ($3.99 for child size). Patrons who attend will receive a free ticket to a private showing of "A Christmas Story" at noon Dec. 22.

Donations can be made at the Bank of Gassaway's Flatwoods Branch or made with PayPal on the theater website (www.elktheatre.com). For more on the breakfasts, call the restaurant at 304-750-2086.
