An evening with Dreama Denver
Auditions for local horror filmmaker Eamon Hardiman's latest project, "The Crawling Dead," will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Bluegrass Kitchen, 1600 Washington St. E. Auditions are open to ages 18 and up.
Audition sides will be provided. Actors are encouraged, but not required, to bring a headshot. They must bring a photo ID for proof of age.

'Doubt' auditions
Treehouse Arts Ensemble in Beckley will hold auditions for "Doubt" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Tamarack. Performance dates are March 8-9 at Tamarack and March 15-17, 21-24 and 28-30 at the Raleigh Playhouse & Theatre.
Roles are available for one man and three women. Actors will receive a stipend for a commitment of 25 rehearsals and 12 performances. Auditions consist of a cold read from the script.

The Greenhouse of Teays Valley, 3554 Teays Valley Road, will host "A Musical Evening with John Eric Booth and Trio. Jan. 26. Dinner begins at 7 p.m., followed by the concert of classic standards.

An evening with Dreama Denver
Beckley's 110 Marshall will host a free book signing and discussion with Dreama Denver beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Denver, Bob's wife, wrote the book "Gilligan's Dreams." The night also includes tropical drinks and food.

Free film
At 7:30 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. W., will screen "When Did You Last See Your Father?" as part of its free Third Friday Film Series. The film stars Colin Firth as an award-winning author who cares for his dying father (Jim Broadbent) and begins to see him as a complete person.
The PG-13 rated film will be shown with captions for the hearing impaired. Call 304-345-5042.
Opera at the movies
The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Gaetano Donizetti's "Maria Suarda" will screen live at 12:55 p.m. Saturday at Regal Nitro and Cinemark Huntington Mall. The production lasts roughly four hours. It is based on the lives of Mary, Queen of Scots, and her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.
