CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Contemporary Youth Arts Company presents a new Mark Scarpelli-Dan Kehde musical drama, "Holly Grove," at the Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers St., starting at 8 p.m. today.
It's the tale of a young schoolteacher trapped by the violence of the 1912-13 Paint Creek mine war and forced to choose between the miners and her own safety. It features a large cast, including Matt Connelly and Austin Susman (pictured), and a score that highlights the perseverance of miners and their families.
Other performances are Friday, Saturday and June 27-29 at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Call 304-342-6522.
