CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- It's the holiday season and that means the return of the Contemporary Youth Arts Company production of the Scarpelli-Kehde rock opera "Mary," now in its 17th year. The production tells the story of the nine months prior to Christ's birth through the eyes of a young girl destined to become a major Christian figure.
The cast includes Rowan Maher in the title role as well as Daniel Calwell as Joseph, Maddy Ranson as the Archangel Gabriel, Maddy Gourevitch as Elizabeth, Nik Tidquist as Herod and Austin Susman as Zechariah, plus a 25-member chorus and 12-piece orchestra.
Shows are at the Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers St., at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec. 5 to 7 with a 2 p.m. matinee this Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors at the door. Call 304-342-6522.
