MTV crew shoots footage in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A production crew, apparently with the MTV reality series "Buck Wild," was in downtown Charleston on Friday shooting video footage.

A video crew was in Taylor Books on Capitol Street for about an hour on Friday, and was later seen shooting footage on nearby Fife Street. Crew members would not confirm their identities, other than to say they were working on a docuseries.

"Buck Wild" will follow a group of West Virginia friends and recent high school graduates, according to published reports.

State officials twice have refused to give the MTV show a tax credit for filming in the state, for fear the show will cast West Virginia in a negative light. The show's executive producer, West Virginia native J.P. Williams, has said the show will not make fun of the state or its residents.
