A look at ABC's next-season offerings

  • "Nashville": Soapy drama. 10 p.m. Wednesdays.
  •  

    A fading country star (Connie Britton, "Friday Night Lights") must tour with an ambitious teen starlet (Hayden Panettiere, "Heroes") per her record label's orders. There's also family drama when her influential, estranged father (Powers Boothe, "24") backs her husband (Eric Close, "Without a Trace"), against her wishes, in the Nashville mayoral race.

     

  • "The Neighbors": Sci-fi sitcom from Dan Fogleman ("Crazy, Stupid, Love," "Tangled"). 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
  •  

    A family moves to an exclusive gated community and discover that all their neighbors are aliens. They also find that marital and parental problems aren't exclusive to humans. Starring Jami Gertz ("Still Standing") and Lenny Venito ("The Knights of Prosperity").

     

  • "Red Widow": Crime thriller based on a Dutch series. Midseason.

    A widow (Radha Mitchell, "Silent Hill") must take over her assassinated husband's role in a crime syndicate to protect her family and reveal the truth about his death. Also stars Luke Goss ("Hell Boy II"), Lee Tergesen ("Oz") and Jamie Ray Newman ("Eastwick").

     

  • "Zero Hour": Supernatural cop drama. Midseason.

    A paranormal magazine publisher (Anthony Edwards, "E.R.") is thrust into one of the world's greatest conspiracies when his wife (Jacinda Barrett, "Poseidon") is abducted. He must race against the clock to find her and save humanity, too. Also stars Michael Nyqvist (star of the Swedish "Girl with the Dragon Tattooo" films), Scott Michael Foster ("Greek") and Carmen Ejogo ("Chaos").
