Youth art show

The Clay Center hosts a show of Kanawha County students' two- and three-dimensional artwork in media including pencil, pen and ink, paint, photography and sculpture through May 13 in the Mylan Explore-atory Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6 for children. New Clay Center planetarium show

Thursday, the Clay Center debuts its original planetarium show, "Jupiter: Planetary Giant," which runs 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon and 2 p.m. Sundays. Christian youth concert

Break Free, a free Christian rock conference, takes place this weekend at Lincoln County High School in Hamlin. The event features a 5:30 p.m. concert Friday and 2 p.m. conference Saturday. Friday has music by Luminate, Kimber Rising, 7Eventh Time Down and more.

Cyan Maroney memorial concert

At 7 p.m. Friday, Tamarack hosts a jazz concert in memory of Cyan Maroney. Performers are Bob Thompson, Lady D, Mi$$ion, John Yurick and the West Virginia Dance Company. There will also be silent and live auctions.

Maroney, a dancer with the WVDC, was stabbed to death last October. She would have been 26 Thursday. Her family wants to raise $50,000 for a dance endowment at Connecticut College, her alma mater.

'Godot' final weekend

"Waiting for Godot" will close this weekend at the Alban Arts Center, 65 Olde Main St., St. Albans. The production of Samuel Beckett's absurdist play stars Adam Bryan and Kevin Pauley. Free comic book day

On Saturday, Lost Legion Games and Comics: The Rifleman will take part in Free Comic Book Day. Customers get their choice of two free comics, while supplies last. There also will be game demonstrations and appearances by Danny Boyd ("Chillers") and Jason Pell ("Zombie Highway").

Charleston Civic Chorus concert

The Charleston Civic Chorus' spring concert is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Charleston Baptist Temple, 209 Morris St. The free program includes "Gloria," "Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge" (with trumpeter Jeremy Severn), "Animal Crackers, Volumes I and I" (short pieces on the poems of Ogden Nash), "'S Wonderful," "Over the Rainbow" and more. Drum workshop

Kanawha Kordsmen seeks FestivALL singers

The Kanawha Kordsmen hosts a guest night beginning at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Columbia Gas Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. Male singers are invited to attend, and those who participate in rehearsals until June 24 will sing three songs with the group at the Charleston Harmony FestivALL concert. Ballet auditions

The Charleston Ballet will hold company auditions on Wednesday and apprentice auditions on May 10 at its studio, 100 Capitol St. The company auditions run 5:30 to 7 p.m. for ages 14 and up. Dancers must be of advanced ability with a classical ballet background; women must be proficient in pointe work.

Apprentice auditions run 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. May 10 for ages 11-15. Dancers must be at an intermediate level or higher, and girls must be working on pointe. Call 304-342-6541 or visit www.thecharlestonballet.com.

FestivALL location play
