Gibson Brothers concert

Benefit concert

Singer/songwriter Kate Long will perform at Sutton's Landmark Theater at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in a benefit for Camp Nabe, a bereavement camp for children. Elaine Wine will join her for a set. Admission is by donation. Call 304-644-3166.

Organ recital

Organist David Higgs will perform a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral, corner of Leon Sullivan Way and Virginia Street East. Higgs will play the newly installed Schantz organ. Reception follows in Sacred Heart gymnasium. Call 304-342-8175.

Roller derby

The Chemical Valley Rollergirls take on the Greenbrier Valley Roller Vixens in their last home bout at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Charleston Civic Center. Doors for the "Capital City Punishment" bout open at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 2-12 and free for children under 2. Proceeds benefit the Midwives Alliance of West Virginia, which supports options for women in childbirth and advocates for midwifery education and practice.

Montclaire String Quartet

The Montclaire String Quartet opens its season with "Miniatures" at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Erma Byrd Gallery at the University of Charleston. The program features pieces by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Bridge, Shostakovich, Kirchner, Turina, Ives, Ljova and Piazzolla. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and children. Murder mystery at Cranberry Glades

The Pocahontas County Opera House presents The Mystery of Gauley Marsh" at 1 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 20 at the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area. It's the tale of a 19th century jury's trip to the marsh as part of the James Brooden's murder trial; the audience plays the part of the jury.

Admission is free, but performance space is limited. Call the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center at 304-653-4826 for reservations.

Film festival fundraiser

The West Virginia International Film Festival benefit Motion Picture Mixer, featuring films, live music, food and beverages, runs 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at 226 1/2 Capitol St. (Ann Saville's loft above Taylor Books). The Fall Film Festival runs Oct. 31-Nov. 10 at the Capitol Center Theater.
