CHARLESTON, W.Va. --"Radio Free Charleston" episode 182 is online now at the PopCult blog.
It features a music video by Deni Bonet on her plugged-in violin, a semi-animated performance by HARRAH and the "Radio Free Charleston" debut of Beggars Clan. The episode also includes the return of Parkersburg filmmaker Murfmeef and some trippy animation from show host and producer, Rudy Panucci.
Bonet was an original member of the Mountain Stage Band and one of the Fabulous Twister Sisters. Since leaving "Mountain Stage," she has found fame around the world, collaborating with artists such as R.E.M., Sarah McLaughlin, Cyndi Lauper and Robyn Hitchcock and making solo appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." The music video for "One In A Million" is a real creative romp, a throwback to the glory days of music videos.
HARRAH shows up next, in a video for its song, "Green." Partly in honor of the upcoming holiday, RFC producer Panucci ran the footage through a special animation filter and came up with a rotoscoped black, white and green video of a performance recorded last summer in St. Albans. On Friday, the band plays its third anniversary show, introducing its new lineup, at The Blue Parrot.
Closing the show is some footage shot by Tanille Spencer featuring Beggars Clan. Beggars Clan will share the stage at The Blue Parrot with InFormation this Saturday.
