Barbershop quartet gathering
A group of about 200 men from a variety of barbershop quartets will give a free performance at Huntington's Pullman Square at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The event is part of the 2013 spring convention of the Johnny Appleseed District 2013 Spring Convention, held Friday and Saturday at Huntington High School.
During the convention, quartets and choruses will compete to represent the district at the summer's International Barbershop Harmony Society competition in Toronto.

The Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nicholas County High School in Summersville. George Harrison's sister, Louise, handpicked the band.

Art exhibit closing
"From Jackson's Mill to Paris: The Fine Art Photography of Sam McColloch" closes Monday at Marshall University's South Charleston campus library. The exhibit includes 40 black-and-white images from the New Martinsville native. Call 304-746-8910.
Graphic novel release
"Chillers Book Two," the second "Chillers" horror anthology graphic novel, comes out Wednesday, and Lost Legion Comics (600 D St., South Charleston) will hold a release party from 6 to 9 p.m.
The comic, which sells for $12.99, features 14 new tales, many of which were written by WVSU professor Danny Boyd and his students. Frank Larnerd, Katarina Dedicova and Betsy Allen contributed stories, while Balsa Gobovic and Leslie Bragg contributed artwork.

Latin drums workshop
Comparsa's Eduardo Canelon will lead an hour-long Latin rhythms drum workshop at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520, Kanawha Blvd. W. Open to beginning and intermediate players, it will work on "playing the bongos with 2-3 and 3-2 son clave, focusing on the basic martillo pattern and how it fits with clave."

'Evita' cast announced
The Charleston Light Opera Guild has announced the cast for its production of "Evita," which runs May 3-4, 10-12 and 17-18 at the Civic Center Little Theater. Emily Barber Capece will star as Evita with Ryan Hardiman as Che, Bill Rainey as Juan Peron, Ted Brightwell as Migaldi and Beth Winkler Bowden as Peron's mistress.
The ensemble is Amelia Allen, Bryan Archer, Kennie Bass, Julia Battle, Cary Brown, Bryan Chin, Galen Crow, Kimberly Smith-Harry, Katlin Kouns, Bob McCarty, Susan McKay, Susanna Morris, Laurie Pennington, Hannah Peterson, Dennis Pauley, Toni Pilato, Caroline Chamness Rainey, Christy Roy, Katie Shaver, Julie Simon, Carl Simpkins, Nick Staples, Ashley Van Brocklin, and Tim Whitener.
FestivALL location play
The Charleston Stage Company is seeking submissions for its eighth annual FestivALL location-play contest, now through May 10. This year's location is Mountaineer Good News Garage Art Gallery. Plays must be no longer than 15 minutes and begin with the line "Can you feel it?"
