Simply Jazz and Blues Festival
The first Simply Jazz and Blues Festival runs Friday through Sunday at the Sandstone Drift Recreation Area near Hinton. Regional and national acts will perform, including Biscuit Miller & The Mix, the Bob Thompson Unit, Zac Harmon, James Cotton & Roomful of Blues, Doug Macleod, Austin "Walkin' Cane" and Inspiration.
Weekend passes are $50 in advance and $75 at the gate; daily tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Students ages 13-17 are admitted half-price when accompanied by an adult, and children 12 and under get in free.

Diamond Teeth Mary festival
The fourth annual Diamond Teeth Mary Blues & Art Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Station in Huntington. The free festival, honoring the Huntington-born "Queen of Blues," features live music from local and regional performers and a youth art competition.
Performers are John Taylor, 4 p.m.; Big Rock and the Candy Ass Mountain Boys, 5 p.m.; Larry Whitt and Blue Eyed Soul, 6 p.m.; The 1937 Flood, 7 p.m.; Izzy and Chris, 8 p.m.; Mojo Bones featuring Allan Hatten, 9 p.m., and Liz Pennock and Dr. Blues, 10 p.m.
There is also a harp clinic with Bob McGraw from 11a.m. to noon, immediately followed by the seventh annual West Virginia State Harmonica Championship. A blues jam ends the day from 11 p.m. to midnight.

Benefit drag show
The Red Carpet Lounge, 308 Elizabeth St., will host a drag show at 9 p.m. Saturday, with all proceeds going to Manna Meal. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance at The Red Carpet or Visions Day Spa, 238 Capitol St. Call 304-342-9977.
Appalachian Children's Chorus
The Appalachian Children's Chorus will have enrollment and vocal placement at 3 p.m. Sunday in Keenan Hall at the University of Charleston.
Tuition for ACC choirs is $400-$450 except K-2 prep choirs, which is $150 per semester. Multi-child discounts are available, and partial financial aid may be offered for qualifying students.
