This week's "RFC MINI SHOW" featuring Snakebox is online now at the PopCult blog. This show takes viewers back to August, when the "Radio Free Charleston" crew recorded Snakebox at The Empty Glass.
Two of those songs appeared on episodes 189 and 190 of "Radio Free Charleston." From that same night come two more tunes -- one original and one stirring instrumental Bill Monroe cover -- in this week's "RFC MINI SHOW"
As their Facebook bio says, "Snakebox, from Charleston, WV, is an ever-evolving nest of undulating sounds. Original songs and music tangle around guitarist and lead vocalist Kevin Crump, fiddle player and vocalist Beth Summers, bass player Thom Walker and drummer Dave Roberts. This orchestral orgy is often heard with violist Alasha Al-Qudwah, keyboardist Christopher Harris, trombone player Logan Umlor and other fine specimens from the local music scene.""Radio Free Charleston" will return with a full episode next week, which is due to be recorded Thursday at Third Eye Cabaret -- where, coincidentally, Snakebox is set to perform along with The BrotherSisters, Jamie Skeen and Louis Argento. The cabaret runs 8 to 10 p.m. at The Cellar, 8 Capitol St. Admission is free.
