Art benefits Tamarack
BECKLEY, W.Va. -- The sale of certain pieces of fine art and fine craft in Tamarack's David L. Dickirson Fine Art Gallery will benefit Tamarack Foundation programs. The art for the special selection offering will be donated by juried West Virginia artisans and featured in the gallery manager's office.
"This allows us to showcase the Foundation and the work it does for the artists and artisans of West Virginia," said Tamarack general manager Cheryl Hartley. "By offering a special art selection whose sale benefits the Foundation, we are supporting programs that are invaluable for artists and artisans that we promote here at Tamarack."
The first art piece, "Bear Crossing" by Mark Cline of Greenbrier County, was featured in the Fine Art Gallery in October.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Bodyworks Day Spa and Art Gallery presents "Women Folk," a folk-art celebration with artists Minnie Adkins and Cher Shaffer at Cabell Huntington Visitors Center, Heritage Village, 210 11th St. The art can be seen 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14, and noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 15.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Huntington Museum of Art welcomes printmaker and painter Dan Mitchell Allison in November as the third of three visiting Walter Gropius Master Artists this fall.
Allison will speak about his work at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Grace Rardin Doherty Auditorium. Admission is free. A reception follows. An exhibition of work by Allison runs through Dec. 27.
Allison is also presenting a three-day workshop titled "Printmaking: Polymer Photogravure Process" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13-15. Call 304-529-2701 for fee information.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Two West Virginians were among the winners in The Renaissance Gallery's 2009 Miniature Show.
They are: Teachers' Merit Award, "Trees," Janet Ripper Chambers, Winfield; and honorable mention, "Gone to Pieces," Regina G. Swim, Charleston.
