CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Iconic '70s rock band Blondie and perennial college party band the B-52s might be coming to the Clay Center in Charleston on Aug. 24.

The information was obtained through concert information resource Pollstar and confirmed through Blondie's Web site, but both listings have since been removed.

The B-52s emerged as a "new wave" band in the mid-1970s with quirky songs like "Rock Lobster." They gradually built an audience through college radio and the independent scene before attaining mainstream success in the late 1980s with songs like "Love Shack" and "Roam."

Blondie, founded by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, was a punk and new wave pioneer that crossed over into top-40 radio with a collection of hits that included, "Call Me," "Heart of Glass" and "Rapture." Blondie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Ticket information from the Clay Center was not available, but the show might be part of the 2010-11 season. An official announcement of the Clay Center's upcoming season is expected in the coming weeks.
