Store manager Aaron Kessler adjusts a pillow in Mattress Warehouse's new Memory Foam Gallery at the Charleston Town Center Mall. Kessler is also district manager for five other stores.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Ladies, you don't have to park your weary husbands on a bench while you finish your shopping at Charleston Town Center Mall.
You can now send them off to the latest addition in the mall -- the Memory Foam Gallery in center court.
Mattress Warehouse opened the gallery on Aug. 7 to showcase its line of Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Tell your husband to slip inside the store's sleep experience center for the most relaxing sales pitch ever.
The nine-minute "experience" consists of lying on a soft foam mattress that gently lifts your head or legs or both while you watch tropical scenes on a flat-screen television. A smoothing voice tells you to relax and to take deep breaths while the mattress "cradles and comforts you."
Be sure to ask for the massage feature.
Your mate will return to you rested and refreshed -- ready for more shopping. Of course, there is the risk that he might have purchased a new mattress with an adjustable ergonomic foundation.

"They are increasing in popularity," store manager Aaron Kessler said of the memory foam mattresses. "People are paying attention to what a good night's sleep will do for them."
Mattress Warehouse has carried Tempur-Pedic in its stores -- 100 now in four states -- for years, Kessler said.
The company decided to open a store just featuring the foam mattresses in the Charleston mall to take advantage of a high-traffic area, he said.
In the nine-minute video, a customer is told that unlike conventional mattresses, the memory foam conforms to the sleeper's body. "It's soft where you want it, firm where you need it," the video says. "It's a brand-new bed every night."
There are several versions of the mattress, ranging from softer to firmer. There is a fixed foundation and the adjustable one that raises and lowers the mattresses. There's a king-size version that allows each side to operate independently.
A queen-size Tempur-Pedic starts at $1,799, the price would increase to $3,099 and higher with the adjustable foundation. The store sells beds, although Kessler said the foundations fit into most standard bed frames.
The new store also carries sheets, pillows, travel pillows and seat cushions.
