Healthy Bites: Dressing calories not from sugar, cream

Basil Balsamic Vinaigrette

Makes about 3/4 cup.

     1/2  cup prepared basil pesto

     3     tablespoons balsamic vinegar

     1     tablespoon lemon juice

     1/4  cup extra-virgin olive oil

WHISK pesto, vinegar and lemon juice.

WHISK in oil until blended and smooth.

Nutrition information: Per 2 tablespoons: 190 calories, 170 calories from fat, 19 grams fat, 3.5 grams saturated fat, 5 milligrams cholesterol, 140 milligrams sodium, 3 grams carbohydrates, zero grams fiber, 3 grams protein.

Creamy Balsamic Dressing

Makes about 3/4 cup.

     1 1/2     tablespoons balsamic vinegar

     1 1/2     tablespoons red wine vinegar

     1     tablespoon light mayonnaise

     1/2  cup extra-virgin olive oil

WHISK vinegars and mayonnaise.

WHISK in oil until blended and smooth.

Nutrition information: Per 2 tablespoons: 180 calories, 180 calories from fat, 20 grams fat, 3 grams saturated fat, zero milligrams cholesterol, 20 milligrams sodium, 1 gram carbohydrates, zero grams fiber, zero grams protein.
