Cooking school

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Taste of Home will hold a cooking school at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Little Theater in the Charleston Civic Center. Taste of Home culinary specialist Cheryl Cohen will demonstrate 10 new recipes. Ticket holders will receive a cooking-related goodie bag.

Wine tasting

The Liquor Co., 1600 Patrick St., will hold a wine tasting of Syrah or Shiraz wines from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19. Tasting fee is $10. Call 304-346-6000.

Lyrical lunch

The Kanawha Forum's fall concert and lunch series begins Sept. 21 at Kanawha Presbyterian Church, 1009 Virginia St. E. The concerts are held from 12:05 to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, followed by luncheons. Concerts are free of charge, but the luncheons require prepaid reservations of $10 per person.

Sept. 21: Ikarus, (Celtic Quartet) Jim Lange, Al & Lisa Peery and David Porter.

Menu: Zucchini Basil Soup, Rice Salad with Shrimp, Pecan Pie Muffins, Strawberry Swirl Cream Cheese Pound Cake.

Sept. 28: Lindsey Goodman, flute, Robert Turizziani, clarinet, and Vicki Berneking-Cavendish, piano.

Menu: Stuffed Green Pepper Soup, Greek Salad, Fresh Herb Spoon Rolls, Orange and Lemon Sour Cream Cake.

Oct. 5: Josh Meredith, baritone, Nathan Moheebi, tenor, and Ron Neal, piano.

Menu: Curried Carrot Soup, Marinated Vegetable-Bacon Bowl, Apricot Nut Bread, Profiteroles with Coffee Whipped Cream.

Oct. 12: Featured young artists Cara Escue & Madeline Southall, sopranos, Allie Sargent, mezzo soprano, and Ron Neal, piano.
