Deborah Victorson, co-president of the Charleston Chapter Hadassah, received the annual Hadassah National Leadership Award for her leadership in volunteer activities.
Selected by her peers, Victorson was integral in Hadassah's "Taste of Jewish Cuisine," is active in ReadAloud and the Ladies Auxiliary of B'nai Jacob Synagogue.
Victorson receive the award June 24 at the organization's donor brunch.
Bean stringing benefit
The annual "Bean Stringin' " to provide produce for Manna Meal will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21 at Capitol Market.
Market patrons are invited to join the Manna Meal Soup Kitchen and Community Garden volunteers in stringing beans to be canned and served in coming months to the hungry who are fed at Manna Meal.
Those who take part are encouraged to buy a pound of beans to string and then donate. As the crowd strings beans, they are entertained with live music. Raffle prizes are given out.
Last summer, 508 pounds of beans were strung.
A wine tasting and dinner to benefit HospiceCare will be presented by Falcor Wines and Bridge Road Bistro from 5 to 8 p.m. July 22 at the Bistro, 915 Bridge Road.
The menu includes stuffed breast of chicken, Parmesan and truffle scented risotto, vegetable medley and chocolate decadent cake.
