Visions of Summer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Art Store is showing new and recent works, "Visions of Summer," through Aug. 27.

Watercolor classes

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Skip Lawrence will host a watercolor workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 3-7 at the Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery.

Workshop fee is $350 for nonmembers and $325 for Beckley Art Group members. Participants will be accepted in the order received until class is filled. Fees must be paid in advance to Pat Ewing, 30 Sandlewood Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.

Black heritage museum

ANSTED, W.Va. -- The African American Heritage Family Tree Museum is now open on Logtown Road. The small history museum is in its 21st year and has exhibits relating to American black history.

Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, or by appointment, through Sept. 3. Admission is $2.

Renaissance Art Gallery

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Artist Susan Tschantz has added a large landscape painting to her works on display at Renaissance Art Gallery. It is a 36- by 48-inch landscape based on the Green Bottom Wildlife Preserve along the Ohio River.

The Green Bottom painting will be joined by other paintings, drawings and photographs showing life along the rivers and creeks of the upper Ohio and West Virginia.
