Leon Elementary School fourth graders Hunter Dawson and Christianna Casto bite into locally grown foods supplied by Mason County farmers Tuesday in the school cafeteria.

School cooks Madora McCarty and Jackie Corfee dished up hamburgers ground from locally raised steers and served on whole wheat buns baked from wheat grown in Mason County. McCarty and Corfee wore T-shirts that read "I Grew My Lunch Today."

Some students dressed the part for Farm to School lunch at Leon Elementary School. Anna Garrity wore her cowboy hat and boots while she dished up fresh watermelon.

Hannah Craig and Emily Chapman, both second graders, selected lots of fresh vegetables and fruits for lunch. Emily said the tomatoes were as good as her dad grows in his garden.
