Indie music fest

LOGAN, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Independent Music Festival will showcase a variety of music genres Sept. 22 at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater in Logan State Park.

Bands scheduled to perform include BobaFlex (hard rock), Byzantine (metal), Split Nixon (alternative rock) and Talk is Cheap (pop punk).

Tickets start at $12 and may be purchased online at www.wvimf.com.

World's Fair designs

PITTSBURGH -- The Carnegie Museum of Art will stage an exhibition of decorative arts that were first shown at world's fairs.

"Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World's Fairs, 1851-1939" will display more than 200 art objects -- jewelry, furniture, ceramics, textiles -- that were created with the latest aesthetics and techniques of their times.

The exhibit will show from Oct. 13 to Feb. 24 at the museum, 4400 Forbes Ave., in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh.
