CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and West Virginia Symphony League will host the 2012 Gala "Bloom Where You're Planted" at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at The Clay Center. The event will honor the life and family of the late Mary Price Ratrie.

"Mary Price Ratrie was a force in the state of West Virginia," said a news release from the orchestra. "Her lasting influence left a significant and positive footprint on the culture of the region. She was a steadfast supporter of many of its arts organizations, especially the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Since her passing, the torch has been passed to her children and future generations of Ratries. This Gala celebrates her life, her impact and the family that keeps her legacy alive."

The gala will open with a cocktail reception followed by a celebration in the Grand Lobby with food, live music and dancing. Tickets for this event start at $150 per person.
