Paterno's opens

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Paterno's in the Park, featured in a Sept. 26 Gazette article, opens Saturday. The Italian restaurant is located at Appalachian Power Park, 601 Morris St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday. Champion chili

Bob Plager's chili took top honors in the red chili division of the World Championship Chili Cookoff in Charleston Sunday. Plager is from Littleton, Colo. Plager's wife Kathy Plager won third place in the red chili division.

The Plager chili dynasty didn't extend to the green chili division, which Bob Hall of Taylorville, Ill., won on Saturday.

Wine tasting

The Wine Shop at Capitol Market will hold a tasting of Pinot Noir wines at 2 p.m. Sunday. Samplers will compare and contrast seven wines from three major Pinot-producing regions. Cost is $12. Call 304-343-9463 or email thewinesho...@gmail.com to make reservations.

Taste-of-FALL

Taste-of-ALL Charleston is offering a Taste-of-FALL at some Charleston restaurants and food vendors from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 to 28.

Each establishment will choose a seasonal treat and offer it for a fixed price between $2 and $7. The event is part of FestivALL, a four-day celebration of art and performances. Visit www.festivallcharleston.com, where participating restaurants will be listed.
