Charleston woman's photo advances in Canon contest
Advertiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "Alli's Dream," a photograph taken by Debra Vickers, of Charleston, is among 91 photos selected for Canon USA's "Project Imagination" contest. Vickers' photo was submitted under the theme "Goal."

The photographs were picked by Canon, film director Ron Howard and the public. As part of the contest, five celebrities will direct short films based on 10 of the photos. They are: Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, designer and Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman, and James Murphy, founder of LCD Soundsystem.

A public vote helped narrow down the winning photographs, where one of the selected winners' photos was chosen by Howard in the "Discovery" category to be a thematic tie across the celebrities' films. The directors will now each select one additional photograph from the other nine storytelling categories that personally inspire them, ultimately using 10 photos to represent their creativity and imagination.

In addition to Goal and Discovery, the themes include Character, Mood, Backstory, Setting, Obstacle, Relationship, The Unknown and Time. See the winning photographs at imagination.usa.canon.com.
