Holiday open house
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- The shops of Lewisburg will hold their annual Holiday Open House from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 18.
The town's more than 50 antique and specialty shops will be open to display new holiday items. Santa arrives at 12:30 p.m. and carriage rides will be available throughout the day for $10 per person.
Child care will be provided by the Greenbrier Episcopal School for shoppers for potty-trained children for $5 an hour from noon to 3 p.m. The Greenbrier Valley Chorale will perform at 1:30 p.m. at the Greenbrier Valley Visitor Center. The stars of Greenbrier Valley Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" will gather outside the theater at 2:30 p.m. to perform selections from their show and serve up complimentary spiced cider to listeners.
Del Sol Cantina and Grille will offer children a complimentary s'more roasted over a fire pit. A Captain Morgan's Steamy Apple Cider Toddy will be available for adults.
For adults, Harmony Ridge Gallery will serve a complimentary glass of Santa's Spiced Sangria, and Bella will host a wine tasting from 1 to 4 p.m.
At 2 p.m. an American Indian ceremony will take place in the Corner Green Space. Those attending are asked to bring a gift for a woman or child to present on the gift blanket that will go to the Family Refuge Center, which serves Greenbrier, Monroe and Pocahontas counties.
WESTON, W.Va. -- Stonewall Resort begins the holiday season with a traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet Nov. 22 and a weekend full of holiday activities that include holiday-themed movies, storytelling, culinary and craft demonstrations and recreation.
"Our Thanksgiving activities were designed to give people the opportunity to spend time together in a relaxing and fun way without all the hustle and bustle normally associated with Thanksgiving Weekend, like preparing meals, Black Friday shopping and cleaning for relatives," said Steve Ludwig, director of sales and marketing at Stonewall Resort.
The Thanksgiving buffet will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and costs $35 for adults, $16 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 and younger. Each family will also receive a pumpkin pie to take home. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 304-269-8880.
