CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Bistro Group, the nation's third-largest franchisee of T.G.I. Friday's restaurants, is again holding its Can For A Fan virtual food drive that will benefit the Mountaineer Food Bank.

The Charleston-area T.G.I. Friday's will donate a can of food to the food bank for each new Charleston local Facebook fan at Facebook.com/EatAtTGIFridays.

In addition to Facebook, the initiative expands to Pinterest this year. On T.G.I. Friday's Can For A Fan Pinterest board, Pinterest.com/eatattgifridays/canforafan, users can like the Mountaineer Food Bank pinned logo and an additional can of food will be donated.

The food drive will continue through Dec. 31 or until 5,000 cans have been donated.

Clay County Christmas

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Students and faculty at Charleston Catholic High School will host its 28th annual Clay County Christmas party for 450 children Dec. 8 at the Church of the Risen in Maysel.

Earlier this month, students donated $2 each to be able to wear jeans instead of a uniform to school. The money paid for photo paper so the Clay County children could have their photo taken with Santa at the party.

During the past week, each student brought items to fill about 500 stockings. Assigned a child, each student has shopped for the child and wrapped their gifts. School clubs provide candy canes, cookies and decorations for the party.

Along with Scared Heart Elementary students, the high schoolers will also prepare about 250 family food boxes.
