Blackwater Falls to hold cardboard sled race
Advertiser

DAVIS, W.Va. -- They won't be dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh later this month at Blackwater Falls State Park. Instead, they'll use cardboard sleds.

A Feb. 23 race is open to children and adults on the Tucker County park's 1,500-foot-long sled run. The race will challenge participants to put together sleds made only of corrugated cardboard and duct tape.

Awards will be presented for the fastest time, the most visually appealing sled, and for team spirit. To qualify as a finisher, participants must be on or in the sled when crossing the finish line.

Registration for the event is $1. Forms are available on the park's website, www.blackwaterfalls.com.
