Civil War display

PETERSBURG, W.Va. -- "Our Civil War Heritage," a large historical display and event, will take place from March 1 to April 30 at the Landes Performing Arts Center.

Presentations will include commercial and hand-drawn Civil War maps, photographs made from glass negatives made 150 years ago, displays of currency and stamps, newspapers, letters and documents.

The parts that railroads, ships and hot-air balloons played in the war will be featured.

Music at North Bend

CAIRO, W.Va. -- Scott Cain will perform from noon to 2 p.m. March 3 as part of Sunday in the Park in the lodge lobby at North Bend State Park.

Cain plays hammered dulcimer and lap dulcimer and lets guests try playing the dulcimer. For more information, call the park at 304-643-2931.

Pipestem music

PIPESTEM, W.Va. -- Pipestem Resort staff members, and their friends and family, will present an evening of musical performances, starting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the McKeever Lodge Conference Center.

The free program is open to the public and guests.

"With Family and Friends" weekend offers a split rate on Feb. 22 and 23 at the lodge. Pipestem's Bluestone Restaurant features a seafood buffet every Friday.

Pocahontas Opry Night

MARLINTON, W.Va. -- Opry Night will feature a trio of Pocahontas County bands specializing in old-time and traditional bluegrass music: The Elk River Ramblers, the Hefner Family and the Viney Mountain Boys will be onstage, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

The bands will be playing to honor the memory of Alan Dutchess, a member of the Elk River Ramblers and former member of the Viney Mountain Boys, who recently passed away unexpectedly. Proceeds from the concert will be used to establish a music scholarship in Dutchess' name.

Tickets are $8; youths 17 and younger are admitted free.

Pocahontas County Opera House is at 818 Third Ave., Marlinton.
