CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Dirty Girl Mud Run to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation is coming to Charleston April 6 at Coonskin Park. The first wave of runners will begin at 8 a.m., the last at 4 p.m.
The run is an untimed obstacle course for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Every one of the obstacles -- from the "Utopian Tubes" tunnel crawl to the "PMS" mud pit -- is optional. Forming teams is encouraged, as are crazy team uniforms. Music, food and drinks are part of the event.
Cancer survivors run for free. In 2012, Dirty Girl exceeded its minimum goal of $250,000 to the foundation in monetary and in-kind support. Its goal in 2013 is to deliver over $500,000 in support.

Teen grief support
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- HospiceCare will offer a series of teen grief support group sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 7, 14, 21 and 28 at its main Charleston office, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., near Patrick Street.
The peer group setting for teens helps them share their feelings and experiences on the loss of a parent, sibling, friend or other loved one. The group teaches teens ways of coping with a difficult period in their lives.

Fashion show models
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- An open casting call will take place at 2 p.m. Feb. 24 for women who would like to be a model in the annual West Virginia Symphony League Fashion Show to benefit the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
Auditions will take place in the community room in the Appalachian Power Park clubhouse, 601 Smith St. Models should bring heels because they will be asked to walk for a panel of celebrity judges.

McClaugherty Raffle
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Tickets are still available for the annual McClaugherty Raffle benefiting the Clay Center and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. This year's grand prize is $10,000.
One thousand tickets will be sold at $100 each. The drawing party will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 5 in the Clay Center grand lobby.
