"If you're interested in fine-tuning finger-picking techniques, getting tips from a national flat-picking champion, hitting chords and licks, and learning the etiquette of jamming, this is the weekend for you," said Bryan Danford, activities coordinator for the park.
Cost is $140 per person based on double occupancy at Twin Falls Lodge, and includes two nights' lodging, the workshop fee and two lunches. The cost is $70 for the workshop only. Advance reservation is required.

Dorothy Draper Decorating Day
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -- The Greenbrier -- Dorothy Draper Decorating Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 20 at The Greenbrier.
The decorating session is open to both hotel guests and the general public and will be led by Carleton Varney and associates.
Varney is the president of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc., the New York City design firm that is the decorator for The Greenbrier.
Carleton Varney and associates will address the traditions of vibrant colors, floral patterns, bold contrasts, and large neo-baroque style of the company as well as the present day design work of Varney, often referred to as "Mr. Color.

Spring at Tygart Lake State Park
GRAFTON -- A series of spring weekends with workshops and events geared to specific interests are planned at Tygart Lake State Park.
Beads and Basics Weekend, a beginner's jewelry making workshop, is set for March 22-24; "Jump Start" fitness weekend, aimed at all levels and led by the instructors from the Harrison County YMCA, is planned for April 12-14;
Two local master naturalists will lead a free springtime hike, beginning at 10 a.m. April 12 from the recreation hall; On April 19-21, a Spring Knitters Weekend Getaway will be led by Sandra Tolin of Yarn and Company in Elkins. Reservations are required; and Bird Banding Weekend is May 3-5. Licensed bird bander Joey Herron will lead the weekend of birding designed to engage experienced, novice or backyard birders. Banding is conducted in the morning hours with evening presentations planned.
