CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra announced its 2013-14 season on Wednesday. The season marks the 75th anniversary of the symphony.

Under the direction of Maestro Grant Cooper, the symphony performs its Symphonic and ZMM Pops Series at the Clay Center.

The Capitol Conference Center Symphonic Series will feature master works such as Copland's "Appalachian Spring" and Orff's "Carmina Burana," and guest artists such Vince Dimartino and Rex Richardson performing Paulus' "Concerto for Two Trumpets and Orchestra" and Valentina Lisitsa tackling Brahms' "Piano Concerto No. 1."

The ZMM Pops Series will showcase two of Broadway's leading ladies with "Wicked Divas," movie magic with the music of John Williams, a tribute to one of the greatest rock bands of all time with "Satisfaction: The International Rolling Stones Show" and our seasonal family favorite "Home for the Holidays."

The Capitol Conference Center Symphonic Series kicks off Sept. 20 and 21 with cellist Jolyon Pegis and violinist Maria Schleuning performing Rozsa's "Sinfonia Concertante, for violin, cello and orchestra, Op. 29." Additional pieces presented by WVSO include Wagner's "Prelude to Die Meistersinger," and Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 5."
