Hawks Nest Irish show
ANSTED, W.Va. -- Hawks Nest State Park will present an evening of American Irish songs and stories, performed by West Virginia's "Bard of Education," actor and musician Mick Souter, at 7:30 p.m. March 16.
The dinner theater will serve Irish culinary favorites, and the evening will include numerous sing-alongs and performances on the banjo, fiddle, autoharp, guitar, dulcimer and mandolin. Souter will offer humorous and historically based tales that set up the songs.

Carnegie piano programs
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- Pianist Fran Belin and her series of free concert/lectures at Carnegie Hall returns at noon March 12 in the auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public. The audience is encouraged to bring a lunch for the 30-minute program.
For the 2013 spring series, Belin will present "Favorite French Composers," beginning with harpsichordist and composer François Couperin. The series takes place on the second Tuesdays of March, April, May and June. For more information, visit www.carnegiehallwv.org or call 304-645-7917.
New Era Kite Fest
MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. -- The fourth annual New Era Kite Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 and noon to 4 p.m. March 17 on the campus of Mineral Wells School, on W.Va. 14.
The festival features show kites and displays (free kites to first 50 kids on March 16), classes on kite safety and history and contests for kite flying. Tours will be given of the 1884 New Era School.
